Most booking sites show you a static average from thousands of reviews spanning a decade. A resort that was stunning in 2018 but declined since still looks great on paper. Lux Pulse fixes that by tracking momentum — are guests happier now than six months ago?

We deliberately track momentum rather than publishing a single score. A resort with a 4.3 average but a strong upward trend after a renovation is a very different proposition from a 4.5 that's been drifting down for two years.

Reef Rating

The house reef is one of the most important factors in choosing a Maldives resort — and one of the hardest to research. We rate every house reef on a 0–10 scale, factoring in coral health, accessibility, species diversity, visibility, and drop-off quality.

For each resort, we show which of these eight species are regularly spotted at the house reef versus those you'd need to travel to encounter. A reef with frequent turtle sightings and shore-entry access is a fundamentally different experience from one that requires a boat ride — and we think that should be obvious at a glance.

Comparison Scales

A 4.5-star review doesn't tell you whether a resort suits a family or a couple, or whether it's buzzing with activity or blissfully quiet. Our comparison scales position every resort across six dimensions — with reference markers showing where familiar properties sit, so you can calibrate instantly.
