Our Take

Who This Resort is For

Ellaidhoo is the resort you choose when the reef is the reason you're coming to the Maldives. The house reef is genuinely world-class — a coral wall wrapping the entire island with shore entry, reef sharks, turtles, and eagle rays visible daily. The rooms are simple but clean, the all-inclusive is solid value, and the dive centre opens up 50+ sites in one of the country's richest atolls. It won't win design awards, but underwater, it punches far above its price point.

Ideal for

  • Divers — 50+ sites in North Ari Atoll plus one of the Maldives' best house reefs from shore
  • Snorkelers wanting reef access without boat trips — the entire island is surrounded by coral
  • Budget-conscious travellers — genuine 4-star quality with all-inclusive from ~$230/night
  • Repeat marine life visitors who prioritise what's underwater over villa luxury

Consider elsewhere if

  • Private pool seekers — no villas have private pools and there's one shared pool
  • Ultra-luxury travellers — rooms are compact and functional, not designer
  • Honeymoon couples wanting romance and overwater dining — limited on that front
  • Families with young children — no dedicated kids club or family-specific facilities
