Opened 1989 Renovated 2019

The Maldives' biggest island resort — 389 rooms across three distinct zones including two adults-only retreats. Kuredu pairs a four-star price point with 10 restaurants, the country's only golf course, its largest water sports centre, and a house reef famous for daily turtle encounters. Unbeatable for variety-seeking couples and families.

Dining

6 Restaurants

Kuredu's dining programme is the most varied of any Maldivian resort — four zone-specific buffet restaurants, four specialty à la carte venues, an ice-cream parlour, and access to Hurawalhi's legendary 5.8 Undersea Restaurant via a short boat ride. Each zone has its own dedicated restaurant and bar scene, so the O and Sangu adults-only areas feel like separate resorts.

Our Take

Who This Resort is For

Kuredu is the Maldives' answer to the mega-resort — except it's on a stunning atoll with a world-class reef. It doesn't pretend to be a barefoot-luxury boutique; instead it offers the widest range of activities, dining, and accommodation in the country at a price that makes a Maldives holiday genuinely accessible. The three-zone concept is clever — families, couples, and honeymooners all get their own space. If you want variety, value, and turtles, Kuredu is hard to beat.

Ideal for

  • Value seekers — five-star Maldives experience at a four-star price, from $165/night
  • Divers — 60+ dive sites, PADI IDC, on-site hyperbaric chamber, and 15+ shark species
  • Turtle lovers — daily green sea turtle encounters on the house reef
  • Families needing variety — 10 restaurants, kids club, pools, golf, water sports galore
  • Couples wanting adults-only — O Resort (12+) and Sangu (15+) zones feel like separate resorts

Consider elsewhere if

  • Ultra-luxury seekers — this is a four-star resort, not a Soneva or an Anantara
  • Privacy purists — 389 rooms means shared beaches and poolside neighbours
  • Design snobs — rooms are comfortable but won't win design awards
  • Those wanting overwater luxury — the Sangu Water Villas are the only overwater option at 70 sqm
