Family-Friendly Features

House Reef & Underwater

Velassaru has no true house reef accessible from shore — the island sits in a sandy lagoon with some scattered coral patches. Serious snorkeling requires boat excursions to nearby reefs (~10 minutes away). The lagoon is safe for beginners but limited in marine diversity.

PADI dive center on-site. Night snorkeling available. Marine life observations sourced from dive logs and guest reports.

Transfer from Malé

One of the simplest transfers in the Maldives — a 25-minute speedboat from Velana International Airport with no seaplane required. Boats run around the clock.

Who This Resort is For

Velassaru delivers a polished five-star experience with modern design and strong dining, all within the most convenient transfer in the luxury segment. The weak link is the house reef — there isn't one from shore. If snorkeling is your priority, look at Baros or Anantara Dhigu instead. But for a stylish base with easy access and excellent food, it's hard to beat.
