Your Days on the Island

Wellness is the thread that runs through everything - this is Banyan Tree's original spa outpost. Our Marine Lab (the first of its kind in the Maldives, opened 2004) runs conservation programmes guests can join, and the daily 5pm stingray feeding on the beach is a 30-year ritual. The sister island Dhawa Ihuru is a complimentary 3-minute boat away with the Rannamaari shipwreck on its reef.

Family-Friendly Features

Kids hop on a free boat to sister island Dhawa Ihuru where the all-inclusive kids club, pool, and laid-back beach are all theirs. Back on Vabbinfaru, the daily 5pm stingray feeding on the beach is a highlight, and children aged 8+ can try their first scuba dive in the calm shallow lagoon. The Two-Bedroom Beach Residence gives families their own private garden, pool, and a chef who will cook whatever the kids actually want to eat.

House Reef & Underwater

A healthy fringing reef encircles the island ~100 metres from the beach - shallow wade-out lagoon followed by a gentle drop-off. The reef hosts blacktip reef sharks, nurse sharks, eagle rays, green turtles, octopus, and dense tropical fish. The sister resort Dhawa Ihuru is a complimentary 3-minute dhoni away with the Rannamaari shipwreck on its reef. Our Marine Lab - the Maldives' first resort marine research centre since 2004 - runs daily conservation programmes guests can join.

Transfer from Malé

Vabbinfaru sits just 20 km north of Malé in North Malé Atoll. The only transfer is a 25-minute speedboat from Velana International Airport - no domestic flight or seaplane needed, and the boat runs 24 hours. That makes it one of the most convenient luxury islands in the Maldives, especially for late arrivals.
