Wade into Boaku's sheltered cove at sunrise, watch blacktip sharks cruise past the jetty at dusk, and ride out to Hanifaru Bay when the mantas gather to feed.
5-Star Resort Seaplane 40 min UNESCO Biosphere Reserve
For couples and young families who want Baa Atoll's reef life without Baa Atoll's usual price tag. A PADI dive centre run by Ocean Dimensions, a kids club with its own pool and a west-facing beach wide enough to feel empty do the work. Rates are sold with breakfast or half board direct, so budget for drinks, the grill and the seaplane from the start.

Dining
3 Restaurants & 2 Bars
Three dining rooms and two bars for 83 villas. Dhandifulhu is the main restaurant, with buffets from around the world and a dedicated Maldivian night; Athiri Grill cooks seafood and meats on the beach; Muraka seats twenty over the water. Raagudi Bar holds what the resort calls one of the Maldives' largest whisky and champagne collections, and Thundi Pool Bar runs its own bistro kitchen.
Dhandifulhu Restaurant
International
The island's main room, seating 120 under a timber roof with the ocean through every window. Buffets range across world cuisines, and a dedicated Maldivian night pairs local dishes with traditional entertainment. It keeps its own bar, so a pre-dinner drink never means a walk.
SettingMain restaurant · Ocean view
Our tipAsk at check-in which night is Maldivian night and plan around it.
Athiri Grill
Grill
A thatched grill on the sand with forty seats, cooking seafood and meats over the flame with salads and sides. The resort calls it casual yet elegant; the ocean a few steps from the table does most of the work.
SettingBeachfront · Thatched pavilion
Our tipBook a sunset table — the beach seats face straight out to sea.
Muraka Fine Dining Restaurant
Maldivian
The resort's overwater restaurant and its smallest room, with twenty seats and Maldivian and international cooking. It also hosts intimate celebrations and private events, which is worth knowing if you are planning an anniversary.
SettingOverwater · 20 seats
Our tipTwenty seats only — reserve early for a special night.
Raagudi Bar
Cocktails
The island's cocktail bar, where the bartenders mix to order and pour from what the resort describes as one of the largest whisky and fine champagne collections in the Maldives. A lounge room of deep sofas and low tables for the hours after dinner.
SettingCocktail bar · 30 seats
Our tipAsk for a whisky flight — the collection is the bar’s claim to fame.
Thundi Pool Bar
Pool Bar
Beside the Bageecha pool, with three detached lounge huts around the bar and the beach a few steps off. A dedicated kitchen sends out bistro plates, finger food and afternoon tea or coffee, alongside a long list of exotic cocktails.
SettingPoolside · Bageecha pool
Our tipClaim a lounge hut before sunset — the pool area is the sunset spot.
Meal Plans
Dining Inclusions
Two board bases on the resort's own booking engine: Bed & Breakfast as standard and Half Board as the one upgrade, with drinks excluded from both. There is no all-inclusive rate direct; the packages some tour operators sell are their own. Figures were read off the engine for a low-season week, so treat them as a guide.
Rates exclude 10% service charge, 17% GST and a $12 per person nightly green tax. The Christmas Eve gala dinner carries a mandatory supplement.

Dhigufaru means 'a long reef', and the island sits inside one: a wide, shallow lagoon sheltered from the current, with the reef edge a swim out — guests put the drop-off around 300 metres from the villas. From the arrival jetty at dusk you can watch blacktip sharks and stingrays without getting wet; snorkellers report turtles, eagle rays and nurse sharks, and Ocean Dimensions' guides point out octopus among the coral bommies. For the big animals, Hanifaru Bay's seasonal manta feeding is a short boat ride away.

Our Take
Who This Resort is For
Reviewed by Tym Lewtak, founder of LuxAtolls·Updated Oct 04, 2026
Dhigufaru is a mid-priced Baa Atoll island that earns its keep in the water. The house reef brings sharks and rays to the jetty, Hanifaru Bay is close enough for a morning trip in season, and Ocean Dimensions prices everything openly. On land it is a comfortable, friendly 83-villa resort rather than a showpiece — reviewers praise the staff more than the furniture. Book B&B or Half Board direct, budget for the seaplane and drinks, and pick your sunrise or sunset side before anything else.
Ideal for
Snorkellers after big animals on a mid-range budget — blacktip sharks and stingrays gather by the jetty at dusk, and Hanifaru Bay's seasonal manta feeding is a boat ride away
Young families — the Baraveli Kids Club has its own pool, library and indoor playground, and Boaku's sheltered cove forms a natural paddling pool on the east beach
Couples choosing their light — every Beach, Water and Pool Water Villa comes in a sunrise and a sunset version, from $385 a night on the sand
Divers who like a price list up front — Ocean Dimensions publishes every dive, course and trip, from $88 a dive once you pass 15 dives
Consider elsewhere if
All-inclusive seekers — the resort's own rates stop at Half Board, so drinks, Athiri Grill and Muraka are paid as you go
Travellers after a brand-new build — the island opened in 2016 and expanded in 2020, and some guests call parts of the décor and furniture dated
Late-night arrivals wanting a direct hop — the seaplane flies in daylight only, so evening landings take the domestic flight plus a 30-minute speedboat

Frequently Asked Questions
Dhigufaru Island Resort — FAQ
Is Dhigufaru Island Resort a 5-star resort?
TripAdvisor, Google and Booking.com all list it as a five-star hotel, though the resort doesn't publish a rating of its own. Expect a comfortable, service-led 83-villa island rather than a showpiece: guests rate the staff and the reef highly, and some call parts of the décor dated.
How do you get to Dhigufaru Island Resort from Malé?
By day, a 40-minute seaplane from Velana International lands at the island; the resort quotes about $475 per adult return. Later in the day, take the 20-minute domestic flight to Dharavandhoo and a 30-minute speedboat with the resort's team. Seaplanes fly in daylight only.
Does Dhigufaru have a good house reef?
We rate it 8.2/10. The reef is a swim out from the beach — guests put the drop-off around 300 m from the villas — and blacktip sharks and stingrays gather by the jetty at dusk. Ocean Dimensions runs a $45 guided house-reef snorkel and a $58 night snorkel, and snorkel sets rent at $16 a day.
Is Dhigufaru Island Resort all-inclusive?
Not on the resort's own rates: its booking engine sells Bed & Breakfast and Half Board, the upgrade running about $33 per adult a night in low season. Some tour operators sell their own all-inclusive packages. Rates also exclude 10% service charge, 17% GST and a $12 per person nightly green tax.
Which water villa should I book at Dhigufaru?
The Semi Water Villas (53 sqm) sit on the sunrise-side sandrock from about $535 a night; the Sunrise and Sunset Water Villas (74 sqm) have steps straight into the lagoon from $635; the Pool Water Villas (89 sqm) add a plunge pool from $735. The sunset version of each runs about $50 a night more.
