A table set on the sand or in the garden and a set seafood menu cooked to order — grilled jumbo prawns, grilled lobster, or lobster thermidor, each arriving with sides, a glass of wine, a seafood cocktail, soup and a fruit platter. Dining Inclusions

Two board bases sold through the resort's own engine — Half Board and Full Board. There is no room-only or bed-and-breakfast rate. All-Inclusive exists as a separately sold package rather than an engine board basis, so its price comes back with your quote.

Menu prices on the island are quoted with 10% service charge and 16% GST already inside the figure.

Your Days on the Island

Diverland has run the dive base since 1986 and it sets the rhythm of the day: six shore routes on the house reef, a dhoni that reaches around forty sites across North and South Malé, and the Embudu Express drift fifteen minutes out. Above water the programme is small and fixed — one excursion most days, courts and tables the rest of the time.

House Reef & Underwater

This reef is why Embudu has outlived five decades of Maldives fashion. Coral starts ten to twenty metres off the beach and drops to thirty, and Diverland maps six current-free routes into it so you can enter and leave on foot at almost any hour. Reef sharks patrol the edge, turtles graze the top, and moray eels, Napoleon wrasse, lobsters and rays are all resident. Mantas are a boat trip rather than a house-reef event — Lankan Manta Point runs best from August to November.

Transfer from Malé

Twenty minutes by shared speedboat from Velana International — one of the shortest arrivals in the Maldives and one of the cheapest. Transfers are mandatory and are booked through the resort rather than separately.

Embudu is not trying to be a luxury resort and does not price like one. What it sells is a house reef good enough to make the dhoni optional, a dive base that has been on the island since 1986, and a room that is clean, cool and entirely forgettable. Guests who accept that trade — reef over finish — rate it 4.4 across nearly 2,500 reviews and a striking number come back. Anyone expecting a pool, a second restaurant or an overwater spa will find the island short.
