Raa Bandhi pours unlimited signature cocktails poolside, and the Hedhikaa Hut hands out Maldivian short eats each afternoon.

International Buffet

The main restaurant pairs an indoor hall with a wooden deck perched over the lagoon. Buffets blend international cuisine with Maldivian dishes across live cooking stations, and every Friday the Indian Ocean Night takes over with island food and a Boduberu drum performance.

Helengeli sells one way: the OBLU Island Plan. It bundles speedboat transfers, meals at The Spice, unlimited house pours, beer and nine signature cocktails, specialty dinners by stay length, daily minibar top-ups, snorkel gear, kayaks and SUPs, a sunset dhoni ride and a line-fishing trip. Spa and the Connoisseurs list stay chargeable.

Your Days on the Island

The water does the heavy lifting: TGI’s PADI 5-Star centre runs 30+ sites off two channels — Helengeli Thila is six minutes away — while the house reef handles the snorkelling. On land it stays deliberately low-key: a garden Ayurveda spa, an ocean-view gym, a games-filled pool bar and live music five nights a week.

Family-Friendly Features

Helengeli treats kids as junior naturalists. The Kids Club & Nature Centre (4–12, free) runs marine-biology sessions alongside crafts and island games, with its own pool and sand pit, and the two-bedroom family villas give children their own twin room and bathroom. The snorkel jetty is the real theme park — baby blacktips cruise past most mornings.

House Reef & Underwater

This is the reef that put Helengeli on the map. The island sits on North Malé’s outer north-east corner with a channel on each side, so nutrient-rich current sweeps ocean life straight past the shore — blacktips, whitetips and nurse sharks, hawksbill and green turtles, eagle rays and octopus all log regular sightings. Entry is steps from the beach at high tide or off the dedicated snorkel jetty at any tide, onto a drop-off falling to around 10 m. Currents strengthen toward the northern tip — confident swimmers only, and check with the jetty lifeguard first.

Transfer from Malé

Helengeli sits at the far north-east of North Malé Atoll — about 43 km from Velana International Airport, 50 minutes by shared speedboat timed to flight arrivals. The transfer is bundled into every package, and there’s no seaplane leg to schedule around.
