Opened 2019

ATMOSPHERE CORE's 108-villa, five-star premium all-inclusive on Madivaru, a 45-minute speedboat from Malé. The VARU Plan is the real draw — one rate covers transfers, every meal, premium pours, watersports, a spa treatment and, unusually, two guided boat trips a day. That last part matters: the house reef is modest, so the marine life is out on the excursions. Come for genuine all-inclusive value and an easy, unfussy five-star — look elsewhere if a world-class step-off house reef tops your list.

Choose Your Villa

108 villas across four groups — 39 beachfront and 69 overwater. The Beach Villa is the entry point; mid-range guests favour the Water Villa or a Beach Villa with Pool. Every villa carries full VARU Plan benefits.

Dining

5 Restaurants & 2 Bars

Five restaurants and two bars, all folded into the VARU Plan: the all-day Lime & Chili anchors every meal, while Kaagé, NÜ, Charcoal and Teppanyaki Over Water rotate specialty dinners. The plan covers premium drinks across every venue — including organic Chilean and Austrian wines — so there is no à la carte bar bill to track at the end of the stay.

Dining Inclusions

VARU runs a single premium all-inclusive — the VARU Plan. It folds every meal, premium spirits, beer, cocktails and wines, two daily snorkelling boats, non-motorised water sports, a sunset fishing trip and a spa treatment into one rate, plus speedboat transfers both ways. There are no tiers to pick and almost nothing to add on.

The VARU Plan includes: all meals across Lime & Chili plus specialty dinners, premium spirits, beer, cocktails and wines, 2 daily boat snorkelling excursions, non-motorised water sports, 1 sunset fishing trip per guest per stay, one 45-minute spa treatment per 4 nights per person, complimentary speedboat transfers both ways, a Boduberu welcome and welcome champagne.

Your Days on the Island

VARU's plan removes the à la carte barrier to the water — two daily snorkelling boats and a sunset fishing trip are already included, alongside non-motorised water sports. The in-house PADI centre discounts your first two dives and runs to nearby manta cleaning stations and shark channels. On land, Boduberu drum nights, a pool and a fitness centre fill the gaps.

Family-Friendly Features

VARU keeps families easy from the moment you land: a 45-minute speedboat removes the seaplane stress, and the all-in VARU Plan means no mealtime maths across five restaurants. House Reef & Underwater

House Reef
Lux Atolls Reef Score · boat-snorkel resort · limited house reef

No real walk-in reef · limited spot at the southern tip · 2 boat snorkel trips daily

Mantas (seasonal, by boat) · reef sharks · turtles · eagle & nurse rays via excursions

Be honest about the water here: Madivaru lacks a true snorkelable house reef. There is a limited spot off the southern tip, but the island is young and its vegetation and lagoon are still maturing — for real snorkelling, expect the two boat trips a day that the VARU Plan includes. That is not a compromise so much as the design: the in-house PADI centre runs the same boats to nearby manta cleaning stations and a grey reef shark channel, with turtles, eagle and nurse rays on the reefs. Mantas are strongest January to April.

Getting There

Transfer from Malé

VARU sits on the north-west edge of North Malé Atoll, roughly 45 minutes by speedboat from Velana International Airport — and the transfer is complimentary both ways, folded into the VARU Plan. No seaplane to book, no daylight-hour stress, no separate transfer invoice: you land, you board, and the next stop is the island.

Our Take

Who This Resort is For

VARU's pitch is refreshingly clear: a premium all-inclusive that removes the supplements most Maldives resorts pile on. The VARU Plan bundles speedboat transfers both ways, every meal, premium drinks across five restaurants, two daily snorkel boats, water sports and a spa treatment into one rate — well below the usual 5-star price. The honest trade-off is the water: effectively no walk-in house reef, and premium-mainstream rather than ultra-luxury. But for all-in value with overwater dining and manta access by boat, few do it this well.

Ideal for

  • Travellers who want everything-included simplicity — speedboat transfers, every meal, premium pours, snorkel boats and a spa treatment fold into one VARU Plan rate with almost nothing to add on
  • First-time Maldives visitors and families wanting low friction — a 45-minute speedboat with no seaplane complexity, a shallow lagoon, and an all-in price that removes the bill shock
  • Couples wanting premium value, not an ultra-luxury price — contemporary Maldivian design and overwater dining at a rate well below the typical 5-star island
  • Manta-season snorkelers happy to go by boat — two included daily excursions reach cleaning stations and reef sites, strongest January to April

Consider elsewhere if

  • House-reef snorkellers who want to step off the beach — Madivaru has no real walk-in reef, so snorkelling is by the included daily boats
  • Ultra-luxury seekers — VARU is premium-mainstream and comfortable, not a Soneva or Four Seasons in fit-out or service
  • Guests wanting a mature, lushly vegetated island — Madivaru is young and its planting is still filling in

Frequently Asked Questions

VARU by Atmosphere — FAQ

Is VARU by Atmosphere all-inclusive?
Yes — VARU runs a single premium all-inclusive, the VARU Plan. It covers every meal across five restaurants, premium spirits, beer, cocktails and wines at all venues, two daily boat snorkelling trips, non-motorised water sports, a sunset fishing trip and one 45-minute spa treatment per four nights. Speedboat transfers both ways are included too.
Are airport transfers included at VARU by Atmosphere?
Yes — the VARU Plan includes complimentary speedboat transfers both ways. It is roughly a 45-minute speedboat from Velana International Airport to Madivaru Island, with no seaplane to book and no daylight-hour restriction. You land, board the boat, and the next stop is the resort — no separate transfer invoice.
Does VARU by Atmosphere have a house reef?
Not really — Madivaru lacks a true walk-in house reef, with only a limited snorkel spot at the southern tip. Instead, snorkelling is by boat: the VARU Plan includes two daily excursions to reef and manta sites, and the in-house PADI centre runs the same waters for divers. Expect to snorkel from a boat rather than off the beach.
Is VARU by Atmosphere good for families?
Yes — VARU is family-friendly, with the On The Move kids club running arts and crafts, themed parties and movie nights, plus babysitting on request. The Two Bedroom Beach Villa with Pool suits families, the lagoon is shallow and calm, and the short 45-minute speedboat transfer removes the seaplane complexity that makes Maldives travel harder with children.
When can you see mantas at VARU by Atmosphere?
Manta rays are strongest from January to April, when cleaning stations within a short boat ride of VARU are most active. The two daily boat snorkelling excursions included in the VARU Plan reach these sites, and the in-house PADI dive centre runs manta and grey reef shark dives in the same season. Sightings are seasonal and never guaranteed.
