Float in a 1,200 sqm glass-edge infinity pool, dine across five restaurants with a live teppanyaki counter, and be at the bar thirty minutes after landing in the Maldives.
Paradise Island for three decades before a 2023 rebrand rebuilt the villas, kids club, and dining top to bottom. What didn't change: the scale and price point of the original, rare in North Malé. The unsung advantage is speedboat-only access — no seaplane schedules, no overnight-in-Malé for late flights.
282 rooms across eight categories — from compact Beach Villas to the two-bedroom, 391 sqm Ocean Suite with its own pool and panoramic deck. The Water Villa with Whirlpool is the mid-range sweet spot for couples, while the Deluxe Beach Pool Villa suits families who want direct beach access and a private pool without the signature price tag.

Dining
5 Restaurants & 2 Bars
Villa Nautica's five restaurants cover a broad spectrum — from the main Bageecha buffet to overwater fine dining at The Lagoon and dedicated Japanese teppanyaki at Fukuya.
Bageecha
International
The main buffet restaurant with live cooking stations and themed dinner nights. International spread with strong South Asian and Maldivian representation. The go-to for families.
SettingIndoor & terrace · All meals
Our tipArrive early for the seafood station — freshest picks go first
The Lagoon
Fine Dining
Overwater fine-dining venue reserved for water villa guests and premium-plan holders. Contemporary seafood, prime cuts, and curated wine pairings against an open-ocean backdrop. The stilted deck puts you directly above the lagoon — reef fish visible through the glass floor panels below.
SettingOverwater · Dinner only
Our tipRequest a lagoon-edge table at sunset for the best views
The Hook
Seafood
Dedicated seafood restaurant specialising in same-day catch from North Male waters. Grilled lobster, reef fish, and shellfish platters served on a sand-floor terrace. The relaxed coastal setting and open-grill format make it the most atmospheric dinner option on the island.
SettingBeachfront · Dinner only
Our tipAsk the chef for the daily catch — it changes with the morning boats
Ristorante al Tramonto
Italian
Wood-fired pizzas, handmade pastas, and classic Italian mains in a Mediterranean-inspired setting. The name means 'sunset restaurant' — and the western-facing terrace delivers on the promise. A good mid-stay change of pace from the buffet and seafood options.
SettingIndoor · Dinner only
Our tipThe wood-fired pizza oven is the real draw — skip the pasta menu first visit
Fukuya Teppanyaki
Japanese
Teppanyaki counter dining with live-grilled wagyu, seafood, and vegetables. Limited seating makes advance booking essential. A supplement applies on all meal plans — worth it for the theatrical cooking and premium ingredients.
SettingIndoor · Dinner only
Our tipBook at check-in — seats fill fast
Press & Pot
Coffee & Pastries
The island's specialty coffee café — hand-crafted brews, espresso blends, and a counter of fresh pastries and light bites. Precision-poured flat whites, pour-overs, and cold brews through the day. Good for a mid-morning caffeine break or a quiet afternoon stop between beach time.
SettingIndoor café · All day
Our tipPair the pour-over with the almond croissant — their signature combo
Captain's Bar
Pool Bar
The social hub beside the 1,200 sqm infinity pool — cocktails, cold beers, light bites, and shisha. DJ sets on weekends draw the after-dark crowd. The default for late arrivals and early risers.
SettingPoolside · Open-air · Late-night
Our tipA genuine lifesaver for late-arriving guests
Beach Bar
Beach Bar
Laid-back beach bar on the western shore with loungers, sand seating, and a cocktail menu built around tropical fruit and local arrack. The quieter alternative to Captain's Bar, and the best spot on the island to watch the sun drop below the horizon with a drink in hand.
SettingBeachfront · Sunset-facing
Our tipBest sunset spot on the island — grab a lounger by 5pm

House Reef
Lux Atolls Reef Score · moderate for Maldives resorts
Shore entry · moderate house reef

The house reef is moderate — adequate for casual snorkeling with green turtles, reef sharks, and stingrays present, but it does not rank among the Maldives' best for coral health or biodiversity. Our Take
Who This Resort is For
Reviewed by Tym Lewtak, founder of LuxAtolls·Updated Sep 27, 2026
Villa Nautica occupies a practical sweet spot: competitive pricing, a dine-around AI across five restaurants, strong diving credentials, and family infrastructure that justifies the 282-room scale. The 2023 rebrand from Paradise Island brought upgraded villas, but the core strengths — atoll position, transfer convenience, dining breadth — were always there. Not a contender for exclusivity, but for families and divers in North Male it belongs on the shortlist.
Ideal for
Families who want a large-resort experience with kids club, shallow lagoon, and a 1,200 sqm pool — the scale means children have room to roam
Couples seeking an affordable overwater villa — the Water Villa at $540 is among the most competitive overwater rates in North Male
Divers — diveOceanus PADI 5-Star on site with Lankan Manta Point, Banana Reef, and 30+ North Male Atoll sites within boat range
First-time Maldives visitors — 20-minute speedboat, no seaplane complexity, and a dine-around all-inclusive across five restaurants
Consider elsewhere if
Those wanting ultra-seclusion — 282 rooms on a large island means this is a social resort with a lively pool and bar scene
Snorkeling purists — the house reef is moderate; nearby Baros and Vabbinfaru have significantly stronger coral and marine life
Guests wanting boutique intimacy — the scale and entertainment program suit those who want activity and dining variety, not quiet solitude

Frequently Asked Questions
Villa Nautica Maldives — FAQ
What was Villa Nautica previously called?
Villa Nautica, Maldives was formerly known as Paradise Island Resort & Spa. It operated under that name from 1994 until 2023, when a full rebrand brought updated villas, a new dining programme, and the Villa Nautica identity. The island and core infrastructure remain the same.
How long is the transfer to Villa Nautica?
Twenty minutes by speedboat from Velana International Airport. No seaplane required, no daylight restrictions, and arrivals at any hour are straightforward. Return transfer is approximately USD 185 per person roundtrip.
Is Villa Nautica all-inclusive?
Optional — three meal plan tiers are available: Full Board (Bageecha for all meals plus one specialty dinner), All-Inclusive (dine-around across all five restaurants and both bars with house drinks), and Premium All-Inclusive (adds premium spirits, in-villa dining, and daily minibar). Most guests opt for the standard AI.
Is Villa Nautica good for families?
Yes — the Wavy Navy Kids Club (ages 4–12) runs daily with treasure hunts, coconut leaf weaving, shell crafts, and island exploration. The 1,200 sqm infinity pool and shallow lagoon give families plenty of space, and the Two-Bedroom Family Beach Villa is purpose-built for families.
How is the house reef at Villa Nautica?
Moderate — the house reef supports casual snorkeling with green turtles, reef sharks, and stingrays, but it is not among the Maldives' best for coral health. The real strength is the atoll: diveOceanus runs a PADI 5-Star centre on the island, and Lankan Manta Point, Banana Reef, and HP Reef are all within a short boat ride.
Can I get vegetarian, Jain or Indian food at Villa Nautica?
Bageecha, the main buffet, serves Maldivian, Asian and continental dishes on menus that change daily, with a good choice of vegetarian options. There's no dedicated Indian restaurant. The resort says its chef will try to accommodate special dietary requests if you email them before arrival, so send Jain requirements ahead and ask for confirmation. In 2025 the resort ran a Diwali programme with an Indian feast and a cooking session.
