Fares and when to book
As a guide from September 2026, economy returns from the German-speaking countries usually cost €600 to €1,000 with one stop and €750 to €1,200 on a nonstop; over Christmas and New Year and in the February holidays prices rise to €1,300 and more. Business class starts at about €2,500. These are guide values, not offers. Book three to five months ahead, and earlier for Christmas and Easter.
Tips for the journey
- Rail&Fly with Condor or Discover covers the train to Frankfurt Airport on the day of the flight or the day before, and home on the day you land or the day after, which makes the Frankfurt nonstops a practical option.
- Book a Gulf connection on a single ticket so the airline rebooks you if you miss the onward flight, and check your flight status before you leave: Middle East airspace was under an EASA safety bulletin in 2026. Istanbul avoids the Gulf hubs altogether.
- Seaplanes fly in daylight only: for a same-day seaplane transfer, aim to land in Malé by about 15:30. A late-evening or night arrival means a night near the airport for a seaplane resort.
- The Maldives is four hours ahead of Germany in winter and three in summer; clocks go back on 25 October 2026.
