The fastest way from Zurich to the Maldives is Edelweiss's nonstop, about 9½ hours, three to five times a week in winter 2026–27; with one stop via Dubai or Abu Dhabi, the journey typically takes 12 to 14 hours. The nonstop leaves in the evening and lands in Malé (MLE) the next morning.

Direct flights from Zurich
Edelweiss is the only nonstop from Switzerland. In the 2026–27 winter timetable (25 October to 27 March) it flies three to five times a week, mostly on an Airbus A350 (an A340 from late November to mid-January); it is not scheduled from June to August 2027. Evening departures from Zurich land in Malé the next morning, and a registered golf or dive bag up to 23 kg travels free except on Economy Light fares. The return takes half an hour to an hour longer because of the prevailing winds.

Fares and when to book
As a guide from September 2026, economy returns from the German-speaking countries usually cost €600 to €1,000 with one stop and €750 to €1,200 on a nonstop; over Christmas and New Year and in the February holidays prices rise to €1,300 and more. Business class starts at about €2,500. These are guide values, not offers. Book three to five months ahead, and earlier for Christmas and Easter.
Tips for the journey
- Edelweiss lands in Malé in the morning, comfortably in time for a seaplane. Seaplanes fly in daylight only, so on any routing aim to land by about 15:30 for a same-day seaplane transfer.
- From Geneva or Basel, the train to Zurich gets you to the Edelweiss nonstop; otherwise those airports connect via the Gulf or Istanbul.
- Golfers and divers: Edelweiss carries one registered golf or dive bag up to 23 kg free on its own flights, but not on Economy Light fares.
- The Maldives is four hours ahead of Switzerland in winter and three in summer; clocks go back on 25 October 2026.
