Walk the boardwalk to the reef edge and slip in among eagle rays, dine over the lagoon at Mediterraneo as the sun drops, and fall asleep beside your own pool on a quiet northern Raa island.
5-Star Resort Seaplane 45 min Deluxe All-Inclusive
For couples and beach-villa families who want an all-inclusive island that stays small and calm. Minimalist timber villas face the sand or line one long jetty, the spa works from tree-house huts, and a single Deluxe All-Inclusive rate ends the menu maths. The seaplane is 45 minutes each way and priced separately — the one sum still left to do.
Seven villa types across 80 keys: 38 on the beach and 42 along one long jetty, 70 of them with a private pool. The 120 sqm Beach Villa is the only poolless option; water villas split by sunrise or sunset view, three Superior Water Villas hold the jetty tip, and the 351 sqm Presidential Beach Villa adds a 12-metre pool and a jacuzzi.

Dining
5 Restaurants & 2 Bars
Five restaurants and two bars on one all-inclusive rate. Aqua carries the buffet and live stations from breakfast to dinner; the Beach Club Grill does stone-grill lunches on the sand; dinner rotates between the Carnivorous churrascaria, Le Asiatique's teppanyaki upstairs and the overwater Mediterraneo, each by reservation. Eclipse Bar at the jetty tip is the sunset seat.
Aqua Restaurant
International
The main restaurant faces the lagoon from the beach, with a generous buffet and cooking stations that swing from Mediterranean and Italian to Japanese, Chinese and vegetarian. Breakfast, lunch and dinner all run here, which makes it the daily anchor of island life.
SettingBeachfront · Breakfast, lunch & dinner
Our tipTake a lagoon-edge table at breakfast — the morning light is at its best.
Beach Club Grill Restaurant
Grill
Lunch straight on the beach: a pizza and pasta station alongside fresh fish, seafood, meat and vegetables finished on a hot stone grill. Le Asiatique occupies the building's upper floor, so the same address does a barefoot lunch and a teppanyaki dinner.
SettingOn the sand · Lunch
Our tipBook the stone grill for a long lunch with your feet in the sand.
Carnivorous Restaurant
Brazilian
Dinner in the churrascaria tradition — premium meats cooked Brazilian barbecue style, with Peruvian dishes on the menu and an open view to the Indian Ocean from the beach. The resort asks for a reservation, and some menu choices carry an extra charge.
SettingBeachfront · Dinner
Our tipReserve it early in your stay so there is time to come back for seconds.
Le Asiatique and Teppanyaki Grill
Asian
Up on the Beach Club Grill's second floor, Le Asiatique cooks Japanese, Chinese and Thai dishes in a cool, air-conditioned room, with a teppanyaki grill for live-cooking dinners. A reservation is required, and additional menu choices are charged.
SettingUpstairs · Air-conditioned · Dinner
Our tipAsk for seats at the teppanyaki grill when you book — the chef is the show.
Mediterraneo Restaurant
Mediterranean
The island's overwater restaurant sits out on the lagoon for Mediterranean à la carte dinners, and it is where the Italian group's roots show most clearly. It is the romantic set piece at sunset, with Eclipse Bar at the far end of the same jetty for a drink before or after.
SettingOverwater · Dinner
Our tipBook a sunset table on the edge of the deck.
Sunset Pool & Bar
Pool Bar
The daytime hub on the main beach: cocktails by the pool with chill-out music and open ocean views, snacks through the afternoon, and the island's karaoke, trivia and crab-race nights when the entertainment programme is running.
SettingMain beach · Pool
Our tipStay on for sundowners — the pool deck faces the evening sky.
Eclipse Bar
Cocktails
A small overwater bar at the furthest tip of the Mediterraneo jetty, pouring cocktails and hand-picked wines with a clear sightline to the sunset over the lagoon. The parents-and-teens cocktail master class is held here during the summer programme.
SettingOverwater · Jetty tip
Our tipArrive early for a sunset seat — the deck is small and the view is the draw.

Very Good House Reef

Jetty entry · reef edge off the boardwalk · 100-hectare lagoon
Faarufushi sits inside a 100-hectare lagoon, and the house reef is what reviewers single out: guests walk the boardwalk to the reef edge and drop straight in, and some snorkel from their water-villa decks. The resort's dive team lists turtles, spotted eagle rays, Napoleon wrasse and sharks; guests add nurse sharks, eels and stingrays. A short guided group snorkel runs twice a week, and the PADI 5 Star centre heads out across Raa for channel and manta dives. Nautical kit is held back at low tide to protect the coral.

Getting There
Transfer from Malé
Faarufushi sits at the northern tip of Raa, and the resort does not publish its transfer tariff — we quote the seaplane or the domestic-flight route with your stay.

On request
Option 2 — Late arrivals
Domestic Flight + Speedboat

Our Take
Who This Resort is For
Reviewed by Tym Lewtak, founder of LuxAtolls·Updated Oct 04, 2026
Emerald Faarufushi keeps the formula small. Eighty villas share seven hectares, a boardwalk leads straight to a reef reviewers keep calling the highlight, and dinner rotates between a churrascaria, teppanyaki upstairs at Le Asiatique and the overwater Mediterraneo. The single all-inclusive rate removes the arithmetic but not the price — this is upper-luxury money, and the seaplane is quoted on top. For snorkelling couples and beach-villa families, it earns it.
Ideal for
Snorkellers who want a reef without a boat — guests walk the boardwalk to the reef edge and drop in among eagle rays, turtles and reef sharks, with a guided group snorkel twice a week
Couples after quiet over spectacle — 80 villas on a seven-hectare island, 70 of them with a private pool, and sunset dinners at the overwater Mediterraneo with Eclipse Bar at the jetty tip
Guests who want one decision on food — the resort sells a single Deluxe All-Inclusive rate across five restaurants and two bars, from a churrascaria to teppanyaki upstairs at Le Asiatique
Families with under-12s who book a beach villa — the Dolphin Kids Club runs crafts and treasure hunts for ages 3–12, and the seven Two Bedroom Family Beach Villas each have two bathrooms and a pool
Consider elsewhere if
Families set on an overwater villa — the resort itself says its water villas are not designed for families and have little room for extra beds
Budget travellers — even the entry Beach Villa runs above $1,000 a night for two on the only rate sold, before transfers and the $12 nightly green tax
Late-night arrivals in Malé — seaplanes fly in daylight only, so evening landings route through Ifuru by domestic flight and speedboat

Frequently Asked Questions
Emerald Faarufushi Resort & Spa — FAQ
How do you get to Emerald Faarufushi from Malé airport?
A 45-minute seaplane from Velana lands in the resort's lagoon. Seaplanes fly by day only, so same-day connections suit flights landing by mid-afternoon; later arrivals take a 40-minute domestic flight to Ifuru and a five-minute speedboat. The resort does not publish a transfer price — we quote it with your villa and dates.
What is included in the all-inclusive at Emerald Faarufushi?
Deluxe All-Inclusive is the only board the resort sells, and it runs across all five restaurants and both bars; the three dinner venues need a reservation and some menu choices carry a charge. Outside the plan sit in-villa dining, spa treatments, diving, motorised watersports and excursions. The package is non-refundable.
Is the house reef good at Emerald Faarufushi?
It is the island's strongest card. Guests walk the boardwalk to the reef edge and drop in, and the resort's dive team lists turtles, spotted eagle rays, Napoleon wrasse and sharks on it; reviewers add nurse sharks, eels and stingrays. A short guided group snorkel runs twice a week, and the PADI 5 Star centre takes divers further out across Raa.
Emerald Faarufushi or Emerald Maldives — which should you choose?
They are sister resorts under the same Italian group, 20 minutes apart by speedboat. Faarufushi is the smaller, quieter island — 80 villas on seven hectares, with an overwater restaurant and bar at the end of its jetty. Emerald Maldives, on Fasmendhoo, is the bigger sister at 120 villas. Both sell all-inclusive only, so the choice is scale and mood rather than meal plans.
Is Emerald Faarufushi good for families with kids?
Yes, with a caveat on villa choice. The Dolphin Kids Club takes ages 3–12 with a multilingual team, and its summer programme runs crafts, treasure hunts and junior mocktail classes; seven Two Bedroom Family Beach Villas each have two bathrooms and a pool. The resort says its water villas are not designed for families, and babysitting is charged separately.
