JOALI

5 Restaurants & 1 Bar

JOALI's dining lineup punches at Michelin level — Saoke is Forbes-recognised, Bellinis brings Italy to the Indian Ocean, and TUH'U does Levantine cuisine on the sand under the stars. No all-inclusive option, but the quality justifies à la carte.

Vandhoo

Pan-Asian

The main dining venue serving Southeast Asian, Chinese, and Indian cuisines with daily-catch seafood from local fishermen. A diverse crew of Asian chefs bring authentic regional flavours with modern twists across live cooking stations.

Dining Inclusions

JOALI offers bed & breakfast and half board — there is no all-inclusive option. At this ultra-luxury tier, most guests go half board and supplement with à la carte dining at Saoke, Bellinis, or Mura Bar.

Meal plan prices are a guide only — generally an average across the year. Resorts can change them at any time, they often vary by season, and a plan sold in one season may not be offered in another. We'll confirm what's available and the exact price for your dates.

Your Days on the Island

JOALI layers art-immersive experiences on top of a full Maldivian activity programme. The Art Studio, coral restoration, and destination dining set it apart from traditional luxury resorts — this is as much a cultural experience as a beach holiday.

Family-Friendly Features

JOALI welcomes families with young children. The Muramas Kids Club runs daily from 9am to 7pm for ages 4–12, with art workshops, marine biology sessions, and island treasure hunts. Family Beach Villas come with two private pools, and the summer camp programme adds pottery, pizza-making, and tennis for older children.

House Reef & Underwater

JOALI's house reef is accessible and pleasant for casual snorkeling — clownfish, reef fish, and rays — but not a standout. The real draw is Raa Atoll's wider dive sites: manta ray cleaning stations, shark thilas, and pristine coral across dozens of sites reachable in under 30 minutes.

PADI dive center on-site. Night snorkeling available. Marine life observations sourced from dive logs and guest reports.

Transfer from Malé

JOALI is in Raa Atoll, about 280 km north of Malé. The seaplane is the signature arrival — 45 minutes of aerial views over the atolls. A private JOALI lounge at Velana Airport with refreshments and dedicated hosts makes the wait seamless.

Who This Resort is For

Reviewed by Tym Lewtak, founder of LuxAtolls ·Updated Sep 27, 2026

JOALI occupies a unique position in the Maldives — it's not just another luxury resort, it's a design destination. The art curation, Michelin-level dining, and Forbes Five-Star service put it in the top tier alongside Soneva Jani and One&Only Reethi Rah, but with a creative identity that neither can match. The trade-off is price — this is firmly ultra-luxury territory with no all-inclusive safety net. If art, design, and gastronomy matter as much as the beach, JOALI is hard to beat.
