Opened 2019 Renovated 2025

The Halcyon Private Isles is the Raffles Maldives Meradhoo you remember — same twin-island geometry (21 beach villas plus 16 overwater on a separate boat-hop island), same Yuzu Nikkei kitchen, same Faru Kids Club, same Marine Butler programme — now flying Marriott's Autograph Collection flag after CDL Hospitality Trusts ended the Accor agreement on 31 October 2025.

Dining

3 Restaurants & 3 Bars

Three restaurants — Thari beachfront all-day, Yuzu Nikkei overwater, The Firepit beach BBQ — plus the Bell Bar named for the British archaeologist who mapped the Maldives' historic sites, Yapa sunset bar at Yuzu, and The Wine Room cellar with sommelier-led pairings.

Thari restaurant
Thari
International
All-day beachfront on the main island. Breakfast is the standout — pastry station, eggs benedict, made-to-order. Lunch and dinner serve a globally-inflected menu indoors or at open beachfront tables.
SettingBeachfront · Main island
Our tipSkip the buffet at breakfast and order the eggs benedict from the kitchen
Yuzu restaurant
Yuzu
Nikkei
Nikkei (Japanese-Peruvian) fine dining over the lagoon on the Overwater Island, helmed by Peruvian Chef Anibal Torres. Sustainable seafood, raw bar, hot dishes and a sake pairing programme — the resort's signature dining experience.
SettingOverwater Island · Fine dining
Our tipBook first night and request the omakase with sake pairing
The Firepit restaurant
The Firepit
Open-Fire BBQ
Beachside BBQ on the main island — open-fire grill specialising in lobster, beef tenderloin and fresh-caught seafood. Tables carved into the sand. Operates select evenings (typically twice weekly, weather-dependent).
SettingBeachside · Sand tables
Our tipConfirm the night with your butler — Firepit doesn't run nightly
Bell Bar restaurant
Bell Bar
Cocktails
Named for H.C.P. Bell, the British archaeologist who mapped the Maldives' Buddhist-era ruins and coral-stone mosques across three expeditions between 1879 and 1922. Shelves of rare spirits, signature cocktails themed around exploration. Occupies the same beachfront pavilion that was the Raffles-era Long Bar.
SettingBeachfront · Retro-glamour lounge
Our tipAsk the bartender for the explorer-themed signature — the program rotates seasonally
Yapa restaurant
Yapa
Cocktails
Pool bar on the Overwater Island next to Yuzu — sunset-facing, with a cocktail programme drawing on Japanese and South American spirits (sake, pisco, mezcal, tequila). Mixologist-led.
SettingOverwater Island · Sunset-facing
Our tipPisco sour before Yuzu — it's the natural opener for a Nikkei night
The Wine Room restaurant
The Wine Room
Wine Cellar
Private wine cellar carried over from the Raffles era under a tweaked name. Sommelier-led tasting flights and pairing dinners; 400+ labels including rare vintages. Head Sommelier Manuel Llamas (Spanish) continues to curate.

Our tipBook a tasting on a rest day — it's a multi-hour commitment

Your Days on the Island

Two-island geography opens unusual options — a private dhoni shuttles between the islands all day. Dedicated Marine Butlers (every guest) lead complimentary house-reef snorkels; the PADI centre runs channel dives to Gaafu Alifu's famously healthy southern reef system.

Getting There

Transfer from Malé

Gaafu Alifu is ~400 km south of Malé — the standard route combines a Maldivian Airlines domestic flight to Kaadedhdhoo with a 15-minute speedboat. Trans Maldivian Airways added a direct seaplane in November 2023 for guests wanting a single transfer.

Our Take

Who This Resort is For

The artist formerly known as Raffles Meradhoo is the same physical resort with new branding — twin-island geometry, 38 villas, Yuzu's Nikkei tasting menu, the resident turtle population on two house reefs. The transition has been smooth: bookings honoured, staff retained, service tier intact. The trade-off is the loyalty switch (Accor → Marriott Bonvoy at ~112K points/night entry) and a thinner brand-recognition story while 'Halcyon' builds awareness — though the property is materially the same Raffles you might remember.

Ideal for

  • Marriott Bonvoy members — the only Autograph Collection in the Maldives; Bonvoy redemptions ~112K–200K points/night for the standard villa range
  • Couples wanting service-led seclusion — the Halcyon Butler programme (renamed from Raffles Butler) and 38-villa cap keep guest density very low
  • Snorkellers and divers — Huvadhoo Atoll's reef is among the healthiest in the Maldives, with two house reefs and a resident turtle population
  • Heritage travellers — the Bell Bar's H.C.P. Bell archaeology story and the unusual twin-island geometry give the page a stronger editorial spine than the average Bonvoy property

Consider elsewhere if

  • Accor ALL loyalists — points stopped accruing 31 October 2025; the property is firmly inside the Marriott ecosystem now
  • Easy-access travellers — Gaafu Alifu means a 2-stage transfer (~$1,090 pp RT) or a 90-minute direct seaplane (~$1,400 pp RT)
  • Travellers attached specifically to the Raffles brand identity — the Long Bar's Singapore-Sling lineage was deliberately severed; Bell Bar's program is themed around exploration rather than colonial nostalgia

Frequently Asked Questions

Raffles Maldives Meradhoo — FAQ

Is Raffles Maldives Meradhoo still operating as Raffles?
No. On 1 November 2025 the resort became The Halcyon Private Isles Maldives, Autograph Collection — a Marriott franchise managed by Apara Hotel Management on behalf of owner CDL Hospitality Trusts. The Raffles agreement with Accor concluded by mutual agreement on 31 October 2025. Villas, dining and most staff are unchanged.
What is The Halcyon Private Isles Maldives?
A 38-villa twin-island luxury resort in Gaafu Alifu Atoll, 90 minutes by seaplane from Malé. It debuted on 1 November 2025 as Marriott Autograph Collection's Maldives flagship. The physical resort is the same property formerly branded Raffles Maldives Meradhoo (2017–2025), and before that Jumeirah Dhevanafushi (2011–2016).
Are existing Raffles bookings honoured at Halcyon?
Yes. The resort confirmed all Raffles-era bookings are honoured at the original villa, rate and inclusions. Operations continued uninterrupted through the 31 Oct / 1 Nov 2025 transition. Accor ALL points stopped accruing on 31 October 2025; new stays earn Marriott Bonvoy points (~112K–200K per night).
What changed when Raffles became Halcyon?
Villas, dining (Thari, Yuzu, Firepit, Yapa) and Faru Kids Club kept their names. The Long Bar was renamed Bell Bar, honouring H.C.P. Bell — the British archaeologist who mapped the Maldives' historic sites in the late 1800s. The Raffles Royal Residence is now The Halcyon Grand Estate, the 2-bedroom Residences became Two-Bedroom Retreats, and a padel court was added.
How do I get to Halcyon Private Isles / Raffles Meradhoo?
Two options: a 55-minute Maldivian Airlines domestic flight to Kaadedhdhoo + 15-min speedboat (~$1,090 pp RT), or a direct 90-minute TMA seaplane (~$1,400 pp RT, daylight only). Both run higher than central-atoll transfers because of the 400 km southern distance.
