The island's main restaurant, right on the beach: buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner with an à la carte menu alongside. Theme nights take the kitchen around the world in seven days — Maldivian to Mediterranean to the streets of Asia — with live cooking stations set up on the sand, live music and a Maldivian night.

Cocktails

Laid-back by day and the island's cocktail bar by night, looking straight out over the Indian Ocean. Cocktails, beer, wine, spirits and snacks come with lounge music through the afternoon, and the playlist picks up for dancing once the sun is down.

A thatched bar out on the island's western spit, made for the walk back from a swim or a stroll by the lake. Handcrafted cocktails and the house signature pizza, hammocks in the sand and music while the sun goes down over the neighbouring islands.

Dining Inclusions

Rates are sold on three board bases — Half Board, Full Board and All-Inclusive — and with one main restaurant, every plan's meals are served at Kaagé. Half Board is the base rate; the supplements below are the gap between plans on the resort's own booking engine.

Supplements are per person per night. A government green tax of $12 per person per night is charged on top of every plan.

Meal plan prices are a guide only — generally an average across the year. Resorts can change them at any time, they often vary by season, and a plan sold in one season may not be offered in another. We'll confirm what's available and the exact price for your dates.

Your Days on the Island

The water is the programme: PADI-instructed diving, daily guided snorkelling tours around the island, and a shallow, breezy lagoon for windsurfing, paddleboards and kayaks. Boats head out for dolphins, sport fishing, sunset and stargazing cruises and visits to Laamu's local islands; back on land there is Rahaa Spa, a gym, beach games and a week of theme nights at Kaagé.

House Reef & Underwater

Rahaa markets the longest house reef in the Maldives — a superlative we cannot measure, so we lean on what guests report instead: turtles, rays and small reef sharks a few metres off the beach, and enough life around the island that some never took the boat. The resort's team runs daily guided snorkelling tours to the best spots around the island, and its PADI-instructed dive centre heads out for manta rays and turtles. Guests advise water shoes — the coral near shore is sharp.

Transfer from Malé

Rahaa is about 265 km south of Malé in Laamu Atoll. Guests take a 55-minute domestic flight from Velana to Kadhdhoo, the atoll's airport, then a speedboat of about 30 minutes to the island. The resort books both legs and sells them as one return package at USD 450 per adult.

Rahaa is a straightforward four-star island in a deep-south atoll most visitors never see: two beach-villa types, a single main restaurant, a big shallow lagoon and a reef guests keep describing in turtles and sharks. It is not polished and it is not quick to reach, and the appeal is simplicity rather than service theatre. If a quiet atoll and a beach you can snorkel from matter more to you than a pool on the terrace, it deserves a place on the shortlist.
