House Reef & Underwater

Taj Exotica is famous for its lagoon, not its reef. The shallow turquoise lagoon is stunningly beautiful — arguably the most photographed in the Maldives — but it's wide, sandy-bottomed, and not ideal for snorkeling. Coral coverage is sparse near the resort, and marine diversity is limited compared to reef-forward properties. The lagoon is the attraction here, perfect for swimming, kayaking, and wading with young children. For serious snorkeling, book a guided excursion to nearby reefs in South Malé Atoll, where conditions are significantly better.
