Five restaurants and one bar, all run by the resort. The Olive is the market-style main restaurant, cooking across six stages from Ayurvedic tapas to a raw bar; Husk grills over coconut-husk fires on the sand; YUZU is Japanese over the water; Solara does Mediterranean by a fire pit and Piazza bakes pizza by the pool. Nook is the bar. Nothing has opened yet, so menus and prices aren't published.

The Olive

International

The main restaurant, set out like a market among olive trees, vintage cookbooks and herb walls. Six stages cook Ayurvedic tapas, Pan-Asian, Maldivian curries, seafood with an oyster and clam raw bar, Italian from wood-fired ovens and handmade chocolates. It is also the breakfast room, with vegetarian, pescatarian and gluten-free options.

Grill

The signature restaurant: a canopy on the sand with rustic screens that drop when the wind picks up, handwoven rugs and low seating around a central fire pit. Fish and meat are cooked over coconut husks and giant grills, Maldivian curries bubble in cast-iron pots, a blackboard carries the day's menu and even the desserts come off the flames.

Japanese

Japanese over the water at the end of its own walkway, with a live cooking station where the chefs work in front of you. The resort describes the room as refined Japanese design facing the open horizon, and it is the island's one overwater venue — the place for a long, quiet dinner rather than a quick one.

Mediterranean

The beachside Mediterranean restaurant, open for lunch and dinner, cooking Mediterranean classics with fresh local ingredients and European and Middle Eastern influences. After dark the fire pit on the sand sets the mood, and it is the easiest table on the island for a long lunch between swims.

Pizza

A poolside pizzeria turning out gourmet Italian pizzas through the middle of the day. It sits beside the island's main pool, so it works for a post-swim slice or a sunlit lunch without changing out of swimwear, and is the obvious stop with children in tow.

The island's one bar, at the heart of the resort: plush seating, a long counter and signature cocktails built on local ingredients and house infusions. The resort pitches it as the place to unwind after sunset rather than a party bar, which suits the island's slow, quiet mood.

Dining Inclusions

The resort's own FAQ puts breakfast in the base rate and offers upgrades to Full Board or All-Inclusive; no Half Board is mentioned. While Villa Haven is in pre-opening it publishes no plan prices or inclusions, so we quote the plans with your enquiry once the resort releases its rates.

Your Days on the Island

The water around Villa Haven is the South Ari Marine Protected Area, so diveOceanus's programme starts with whale sharks at Maamigili and runs to manta and shark thilas. On land the resort's Humble Hallmarks set the tone — perfume-making, pottery from island clay, a toddy tapper and campfire storytelling — with Araamu Spa and an Ayurvedic lobby. The resort calls the programme a work in progress, so details may change before opening.

Family-Friendly Features

Days here are planned to run slow: a morning at the Kids Club or the Teens' Club, pottery with island clay at The Clay Club, a first Bubble Maker dive with diveOceanus, and puppet-led Maldivian tales around the beach campfire after dinner. The two- and three-bedroom residences put everyone under one roof with two or three pools of their own.

House Reef & Underwater

Villa Haven publishes nothing about a house reef yet — no entry points, no drop-off, no snorkel trail — and with no guests there are no first-hand reports either, so this score is provisional and we will re-rate it once the island opens. What is certain is the water around it: Dhiffushi sits inside SAMPA, the South Ari Marine Protected Area, a short boat ride from the whale-shark reef at Maamigili, with manta and shark thilas on the dive centre's list.

Transfer from Malé

Villa Haven sits on Dhiffushi at the tip of South Ari, about 110 km from Velana International. The resort says it is reached only by seaplane, a 35-minute flight, with its own seaplane lounge at the airport. It has not published a transfer price yet, so we confirm the cost and the flight times in writing with your quote once it opens.

Villa Haven is Villa Resorts' bid for the contemplative end of the market: 73 beachfront villas and residences, each with its own pool, a fire-cooking restaurant on the sand, and a programme of perfume, pottery and palm-toddy rituals instead of a party. On paper it is the most interesting new island in South Ari. The catch is timing — it hasn't opened, dates have slipped more than once, and nothing is priced yet.
